Sam Roberts has been the New York Times' urban affairs correspondent since 2005. He joined the Times in 1983 from the Daily News. He is also the host of The New York Times Close Up, the Times's weekly interview program on Time Warner Cable New York 1 News. He is the author of a number of nonfiction books, including A History of New York in 101 Objects, The Brother: The Untold Story of the Rosenberg Atom Spy Case and Grand Central: How a Train Station Transformed America. He is a graduate of Cornell University and lives in Manhattan.
