Richard Schulman has been making photographs of unique architecture, design and cultural personalities for many years. In the field of architecture, he has focused on the portraits (over 32 Pritzker Prize recipients) of architects, their buildings and designs. Such luminaries include Philip Johnson, Oscar Niemeyer, Tadao Ando, Herzog and DeMeuron, Zaha Hadid, Bjarke Ingles, Diller and Scofidio, Jean-Nouvel, Toyo Ito, Rem Koolhaas, Frank Gehry, David Adjaye, and Jeanne Gang.
His books include Portraits of the New Architecture (V. 1 and 2),
Conversations with Clients and Architects, and Conversations on Critical and Projective Theory.
His work has appeared in the
New York Times, the
London Times,
Vanity Fair,
Paris Match,
Der Spiegel,
Domus,
Abitare and hundreds more.
He is currently a lecturer on the history of photography at NYC’s School of Visual Arts.
