Manuela V. Hoelterhoff is a writer and editor whose wide range of topics includes art, architecture, music, animals, travel and books. Ms. Hoelterhoff received the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 1983 and was previously a culture columnist for Bloomberg News. Ms. Hoelterhoff, who was born Hamburg, Germany, started her career at William F. Buckley's National Review before joining The Wall Street Journal as critic, arts editor and member of the editorial board. In 1998, she published the widely reviewed Cinderella & Company: Backstage at the Opera with Cecilia Bartoli (Alfred A. Knopf). She wrote the libretto for David Lang's Modern Painters, an opera about John Ruskin that was premiered at the Santa Fe Opera.
