Katia Araujo

Director of Programs, Community Resilience, Land and Housing, Huairou Commission

Katia Araujo holds an MA in International Affairs, concentrating in Governance and Human Rights, from The New School. She provides leadership in the realization of the Huairou Commission’s mission through strategic planning with member organizations for the development of programs based on strategies and advocacy actions responding to women's identified priorities. Currently, she leads the Resilience Program in coordination with women’s perspective and actions on security of tenure. Overseeing the Resilience and Land & Housing campaigns work, associated with expanding and enhancing advocacy platforms and partnerships, she focuses on interlinkages in the context of security of tenure, livelihoods and resilience within the process leading to the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. Ms. Araujo chairs the Board of Directors of the International Land Coalition- A global alliance of civil society and intergovernmental organisations working together to put people at the centre of land governance.
