Edwin Torres serves as Deputy Commissioner of Cultural Affairs for the City of New York, serving under Commissioner Tom Finkelpearl. The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs is the largest local cultural funding agency in the U.S.
Torres leads the agency’s work to integrate with the NYC Mayoral administration’s equity agenda through work celebrating diversity, supporting our neighborhoods and fostering collaborations with other agencies to serve our most vulnerable residents.
Before joining the City of New York, Torres served as a program officer for The Rockefeller Foundation. He has also held positions at the Dean’s Office at Parsons the New School for Design; on the Arts and Culture team at The Ford Foundation; and at the Bronx Council on the Arts. Mr. Torres holds a Master of Arts in Art History from Hunter College and a Master of Science in Management from The New School.
